At 11:45pm, Wednesday, Dec 11th, I was walking near Bellingham Intl. Airport. I saw what appeared to be an aircraft on final approach to the airport from the South. I then realized that what should be the "landing lights" were all red, instead of white. I stopped and observed the cluster of red lights move toward my location, slowing until completely stopped and hovering silently, almost directly overhead. It was maybe the size of a golf ball held at arm's length. I saw a large, central red light, surrounded by 5 smaller, bright red lights, with all lights pulsating rapidly (though not in synch with each other). Being almost-midnight, with virtually no car traffic, and certainly no other people on the street (a semi-rural location), while I stood under a street light, I wondered if whoever was piloting the object was aware of me, looking up at "them." After maybe 3 minutes, the object began moving, once-again, to the North, very slowly. Almost immediately, the lights began flickering-out and within just a few seconds, they all disappeared while the object was still almost directly overhead.
