Two of us were on a walk around the local area and my friend decided to take a scenic photo. When he posted it on a computer later we both saw the image and realised something in it shouldn't be there. We were at the top of a local quarry and the object must have been flying down the Derwent Valley near to Starkholmes. It must have been moving fast and without noise because it's very quiet up there and we'd have seen it and heard it. I didn't notice any large birds in the area - and to be honest, it would have had to have been a massive bird to show up like that at that sort of distance. Five minutes after he took that photo the Red Arrows display team came over us heading in the same direction. Whenever a plane or helicopter or microlight flies down that valley you can hear it really loudly, so it can't have been a plane. Weirdly, we started talking about UFO's shortly afterwards, for a part of the three hour walk - even though we aren't into them at all. WE even saw a van with "First Contact" painted on the side of it and wondered if there was some sort of convention or government thing going on. But we didn't know about the photo then. If you zoom in on the photo you can see some sort of weird thing like heat-haze off a road in summer all around it. Maybe none of this helps. But it is what it is.
