Not sure if this was 1952 or 1953. The date was July 1,2 or 3rd for sure. I was walking to the local store to get a loaf of bread. Happened to look up for no special reason and saw 3 dime sized aluminum colored discs traveling due North. No sound .No con trail. No variation in speed. First observed when they were about 70 degrees above the Southern horizon. The discs continued North and eventually blended into one red ball or dot. This took about 3 to 5 minutes from start to finish. I was 12 or 13 years old at the time and took a lot of "guff" from people that I mentioned this event to.
Years later I read a small article in the DETROIT NEWS about a woman on the East side of Detroit that told of the exact same sighting fading into a red ball on the same date and time.
