In 1962, at approx 5:15pm during daylight in either April or May and after we finished dinner, I went outside our house to get the newspaper. As I pick it up from the sidewalk and began to walk back into the house, I felt a sudden urge (perhaps from hearing a whoosh/swish of disturbed air), I looked up and to the northeast observing a large, silent satin black pylon shaped rectangular slow (15-20mph)"flying" unknown craft. Instead of running to get a camera, I stayed to observe and mentally record details. I was actually more amazed with the flawless manufacture or perfection of the vehicle than the fact it was silent and flying. It did not display lights and I didnt see any lines to indicate openings for doors, landing legs, ramps etc. There were 3 "windows" approx. 2-3ft in diameter on the south side which was my vantage point. Looking thru them, I saw a dark amber lighting deep inside the vehicle. Nothing/no one appeared in view. The edges of the vehicle were not 90 degrees sharp. They were very slightly rounded. The approx. dimensions of the black box were 60 feet long by 25 feet wide by 5-5.5ft high. I remember thinking that short people must be inside. The front and back sides were about 70-80 degrees slanted, making the bottom longer and the top shorter. It was a satin black all around, not gloss or dull/flat. Thinking it strange that since all airplanes were silver, this black vehicle must be from Ft Riley or perhaps Wichita. I was afraid but then relaxed as it traveled from east to west and left my view. Even though I was only 12 yo at the time, my talent for artistic detail has enabled me to permanently remember the experience. I couldnt forget it even if I tried for the rest of my life.
