Sighting Details

We went out to see the Space lab going over at 5:26 p.m. in our front yard. It was announced on the local news when to go out and view it. We went out and waited. space lab came out of the north east and as it passed over into the southwest, something caught my eye up over my neighbors house I the northeast, almost at the same degree in the sky as space lab, but seemed closer to us than space lab. I believe the strobe flashes were in our atmosphere. I called to my wife to come see these flashes. She couldn't witness it., so I called the neighbors out of their house to come see. Three people came out. One of those people is in the military. All three of them saw the flashes. These flashes were one light only. Very bright strobe (a bright camera flash) every 1/2 to 1 minute apart. Object was not moving, or did not appear to be moving. It seemed close, yet high up. The flash was unmistakable. The flashing then quit after less than 10 minutes. I have never witnessed this before. It gets dark at 5:p.m. here, so we could not make out any object. The witness who is in the military suggested it could be a Chinese weather balloon. I've never heard of this, and I did not argue, out of respect for his status.
