Sighting Details

My son and I were standing on the balcony in Highlands Ranch, CO at around 6pm on June 12, 2012, when the three objects caught our eye. They were heading southeast at about 10mph in a triangle pattern for the most part. Just before the objects moved past the roof line of our residence, they stopped, hovered for about 30seconds, at which point the lowest left object (furthest away) extended what looked like a two segment "leg" which had a rear facing (northwest/west)declination. At this point, the objects began moving northwest. The leg was now pointing southeast, so we assume they turned/rotated, as there was no arc to the direction change. The objects then slowly moved across the sky and disappeared with remarkable acceleration. I was able to take a picture just before they accelerated out of sight. The objects more or less looked like they had a cylindrical shape over all, and although it is not evident in the picture, there was a lighter tone top section. We could not see any blinking lights like those on virtually all aircraft I have observed. Sound travels very well in our area, yet there was absolutely zero noise from the objects, even as they accelerated out of view. I searched the news, and the web for weeks/months, and even asked a family member who works at the Sheriffs office if any reports had been filed. I brushed it off as just an anomaly, but it has bothered me for over a year, and looking at the picture today and realizing these things were pretty big, I felt that I should let someone know. As a note, we have a local airport about 6 miles away due east, and an Air Force base about 25 miles away to the northeast. I love all kinds of aircraft, but have never seen a craft shaped like this before, nor has my son.
