I went out in my back yard to sit out and look at the stars with a friend around 9 pm on 3/16/13 when I initially noticed a constant red light in the NE. I went back inside, grabbed my binoculars and discovered there were actually 2 constant Red lights one above another and not much distance between the two. I and a female friend observed it through the same pair of binoculars. There was no perceived movement by the 2 lights by either of us and the distance between the 2 did not appear to change. We both watched the objects and about 3 minutes into the sighting 1 disappeared and about 2 minutes later the other. Was not able to locate them again after that. We had not seen anything like that before and my first thought was a chopper or an aircraft of some sort but we heard no noise and could not tell the distance the object was from us.
