I was outside tonight at 8:03 PM in Newark, Ca. looking at the western sky. I was watching jets coming in for a landing at SFO, and something strange caught my eye. It is hard to describe. It was an object of unknown shape (like paint spatter shape), fairly large the size of the jets coming in for a landing. It was traveling east at a speed faster than the approaching planes. Against the night sky, it was a light grey transparent color (like a cloud) without any lights or sound. I could not distinguish how high it was because I was looking at it against the night sky, but it appeared to be as high as the approaching jets. It was in very close proximity to one jet as it approached westward. After it passed in front of the path of the jet, it proceeded to the east and seemed to just disappear or the best way to describe it; it faded out. I do not notice cloud cover, but it disappeared as an object would when it travels above or into the clouds.
