Sighting Details

At about 8:05-8:13pm on Monday March 17th, I was talking my dog for a walk and witnessed what at first I thought was a oddly colored airplane in the night sky. The object was bright orange. Sort of oblong shaped it seemed. The light was not flashing as airplanes tend to do but instead pulsated as it moved slowly and silently across the sky. I noticed the flight pattern actually seemed to ascend and descend slowly. Which I figured maybe turbulence if it did happened to be a plane. But the movement was very fluid and seemed to be going up and down at equal distances. It slowed to a hovering stop above the horizon at about a 30-45 degrees in the Western sky from my position (Off 21st St. in Newark Ohio, 43055). The light appeared to be hovering over the town of Granville about a mile away or two away to the West. The pulsating of the orange light seems to slow and get dimmer and dimmer with each pulse until it vanished out of sight. It did not appear to actually be moving farther away but dimmed as one would lower a kitchen light with a dimmer switch slowly. At which point I came back in to file this sighting. I did not wait for a reappearance or any other events which in hindsight I'm kicking myself for. From the time I noticed the object to the time it stopped was about 30-45 seconds approximately. It hovered for about 15 seconds before I had lost sight of it. Unfortunately I didn't have my phone on me so I have no pictures or videos to back up this report but I hope it helps.
