Sighting Details

I went to go running with my dog and my mom. We were no more than 2 blocks past my house, crossing the road when I turned back and saw a group of red lights floating in the sky. I told my mom and we stood for a couple seconds wondering what they were. I've previously seen fire looking lights in January 2013, to find out numerous people in different states saw the same thing. So it couldn't have been an isolated incident. To continue with this encounter, we have a bunch of palms and trees that distracted me from seeing them clearly. They seemed like they were flying in from the direction over some apartment buildings a good distance away, not very close. I couldn't find a source of where they were directly coming from though, there's nothing really over there that it would be an event, but I can't be sure. They just seemed to come from nowhere. There had to be at least a dozen, if not more floating and moving over the nearby baseball field, past my house and then appeared to slow or stop, then fizzle out. They did not look remotely close to a lantern appearance, they reminded me of a jacks toy you play with the ball to see how many jacks you can get before the ball comes down. As we continued walking maybe 4 blocks away, they kept coming, but from another direction, maybe 2 or 3 at most. Then they stayed put and fizzled out. This stuff always happens when I don't have a digital camera on me. I don't think it was some lanterns in the skies, but I sure hope it was some miss-identification.
