Driving home with my son from Gettysburg to Orrtanna this evening, I was getting ready to cross Old Route 30 from Spigot Valley Rd and then go up Bingaman Rd which is very steep. This is pertinent because we were looking up a very steep hill into the sky and mountains and had our car not been angled , we probably wouldn't have noticed the very, very bright green light that suddenly appeared and streaked from South to Southwest behind the tree line on Newman Mountain. No sound was noticed.
My son and I witnessed the same thing. He at first thought it was a green reflection on the windshield. After he noticed it had gone behind the trees he changed his mind.
My impression was that it was a bright green, sizable meteor because of its velocity and path.
It moved almost horizontally at a slightly downward angle.
We would have been in a position to see more of its path, but it just seemed to appear, one second it wasn't there and the next it was, and then gone.
