6/23/12 @ 9:34 to 9:48 pm. I was watching the Ocean Tide come in and checking out the full moon and stars. I felt an urgent sense of fear like someone was standing behind me and as I turned around I viewed a "Bright Orange Fireball" over the NE section of Oxnard, CA. It first appeared at about 500-600 feet obove the ground in the direction of the Oxnard Airport approx. 2.5 miles NNE from my sight location which was about 200 feet north of the "West Channel Islands Blvd" at the waterline on the beach. Object had visible orange flames with slightly yellowish tips on top in a ball formation approx. 10-20 feet in diameter and was slowing ascending 50-100 feet per minute in a southerly direction. There was no noise such as a jet or other aircraft. After approx. 2.5 minutes the object changed direction and began decending at a slightly faster rate, 150 fpm, and heading more westerly towards my sight location and was getting brighter. At the 3.5 minute mark, the object began a slow radical movement up and down and back and forth and then began to rise up quickly from 300-2000 fpm and was last observed heading in a Northeasterly direction and then finally was out of sight at about the 4.5 minute mark at an altitdue of approx. 3,000-4,000 ft. Times were checked with my cell phone. I took 2 videos, but cell phone quality is extremely poor. At the very beginning of the first video, MOV071, it shows the fireballs proximety to a local beach resort hotel. The white light on the left is a small private aircraft and the faint red light in the middle of the screen above the lights on the hotel roof is the fireball. The second video, MOV072, faintly shows the fireball burning as it is decending. My phone stopped recording after a few seconds.
