Sighting Details

On Wed. 5/12/2014,at a few minutes before 10:00 a.m.,I was driving north on Rt. 347 out of the city of Maricopa, headed to the I-10. Between approx. MM183 and MM184, I noticed a floating rectangle, with blurred edges, over the northern end of South Mountain. It was moving south towards the towers. It looked unusual, so I pulled off to the brim of the road and used my binoculars to get a better look. Sky was clear, air was hazy and it was breezy with gusts. The object was a grey/lead color and was floating and moving slowly, at what appeared, south along the rim of the mountain ridge. While I was trying to figure out what it may be, it began descend to the point where I thought it might crash into the South Mountain towers. It appeared to have been slightly east of the towers but inside the park area. After the descent, it ascended slightly. At this point, I got a feel for the size of the object. It appeared to be as tall as the towers and it's length, end to end, expanded the 3/4 the visual width of the all the towers next to each other. My thoughts went from, Blimp?, No, not round...Parachutist?...No, too big...Banner being pulled by an airplane? No, too big and no small plane pulling it...OK it is unidentifiable at this point. My binoculars got me a little closer to the object but not as close as they needed to be. After the object reached the end of the S.M. south ridge, it began to move east through Wild Horse Pass towards Phoenix. It was getting further away but I could see where it was joined by a white/shiny small orb to the upper left corner of the object. The rectangle changed into a vertical cigar shape and both it and the orb disappeared. I got back in my car and continued to the I-10, then east towards the 17, then to Greenway Rd. I kept looking E/SE to see if I could spot the objects again but there was nothing more. There may have been one other witness. When I was pulling my car back onto the 347, I noticed a car pulled off to the brim just in front of my car, that I had not noticed when I first stopped. There was no one standing outside the car and I'm not sure if there was an occupant in the car, as I was gaining freeway speed. I looked at my watch it was 10:05 and I believe my sighting lasted about 8 minutes.
