In 1968 while driving on Scruggs Lane heading back to Hwy 43, I observed a UFO hovering over Spruce Pine Mountain. I continued to drive in utter disbelief until I could no longer see it. Immediately, I turned around and drove to a bend in the road - once again turning around and stopping on the side of the rode in order to continue to watch the UFO. At that point the UFO began to silently descend behind the mountain. Although I realized that I had seen a UFO, I was visibly shaken by the experience. After processing this occurrence, it made little difference if others did not believe in UFO's because I believed. The UFO was the proverbial saucer shape with a dome on top and a red glow emitting from the underside. In 1969 an article appeared in the Florence Times - Tri Cities Daily describing a UFO that a retired draftsman had seen hovering over what is now the University of North Alabama. The article included a drawing (to scale) of what the man had seen. To my amazement, it was the same object that I had observed the year before. I do not remember the gentleman's name but what a relief to know that someone else had seen the same object I had observed. Additionally, the day was sunny and cloudless. No fog was present either. This was the only sighting I have had but it certainly captured my attention. Thank you for the opportunity to share me experience with people who believe!!
