Sighting Details

I was walking toward my apartment, noticing how clear the sky was and how the air suddenly seemed a bit warmer, when my attention caught what seemed to be a star twinkling differently than the rest. I stopped to see if it might actually be a plane but it didn't move as a plane would. It's light seemed to change between red, orange, and sometimes green. It would brighten and dim erratically and I noticed that it was slightly moving toward the north though the altitude remained the same. As I watched this hovering light, I saw a flash of descending white light just south of it. Still, the red-orange light barely moved. After about 10 minutes of observing the hovering light, I went into my apartment to get my telescope. When I got outside and began to adjust the telescope, the hovering light dimmed and completely disappeared. Keeping my eye on where it had been, I began to take the telescope back inside and the hovering light reappeared. After bringing the telescope back in, I went back outside and the light had moved northwest and flickered again before disappearing. I took one last look as I went back into my apartment and the light was flickering again and had noticeably descended. The entire experience felt like a game of peek-a-boo. It left me feeling excited, nervous, and shaky.
