We were heading home west on 118 just past Topanga in our way to the Rocky Peak when I first notice the bright light very low to the ground heading the opposite direction parallel to the freeway in the opposit direction. I alerted my wife and she saw it right away my 6 year old son said "a shootin' star" I told my wife that is no plane and she said no way. This as it approached and flew right by is headed toward the valley. I pulled over and watched as it speed its way east towards the 405. It became hard to track because of its speed and it's low elevation relative to ours on the hill. It appeared to be below us and we lost it in the lights if the city. It took no more than 5 or 6 seconds to travel ftom Rocky Peak to Tampa or further west. We were already pulled over and sat there for a moment describing what what we all saw. My wife and done saw a definite blue an white glow. No sound and the speed we are guessing at around 600 to 1000 MPH maybe more. Not a plane no flashing lights, no sound and no way a pilot would fly that speed at night at such a low elevation. A helicopter would have disentegrated. I am just happy I was not alone once again.
