Sighting Details

On August 23rd, 2014 I (Thomas Lee Curtin Jr. Ohio MUFON F.I.) was invited to a picnic outing at Fred Batcha's residence near Pymatuning Lake.(This area is rural area next to Pymatuning Lake, farmlands and thick forest). Upon arriving while conversing with Mr. Batcha, knowing I was with MUFON he stated to me that on several occasions he had seen orbs of red light about the brightness of the moon traveling at elevation about 1/2 over the horizon from the Northwest to the Southwest sometimes in numbers from two (2) to seven (7) at a time. He stated that the objects moved in a floating to fast moving manner in which they seemed to be controlled, "not in a way shooting stars move" and made no sound. He also stated that objects were approximately a mile away and about approximately three thousand feet in the air. He stated that from where he was viewing them they were about the size of a basketball and upon looking at them through his telescope that they seemed to have the "divited-like" surface pattern of a golf ball. He stated when the objects would reach a certain point that they would simply blink out and disappear. Mr Batcha stated that his wife Mrs. Tina Batcha, his step daughter Maria and her husband Jim had all seen the objects as well on occasion while visiting and that when the objects would appear it was always between 9:00pm and 12:00am. Each witness was interviewed separately by this investigator and all the witnesses mentioned above were consistent in their testimonies. The weather conditions of Batcha's sightings were always warm and clear nights and the objects always traveled in a diagonal pattern from the Northwest sky to the Southwest sky. Mr. Fred Batcha is a a laborer at by profession, has a high school education, wears glasses and was wearing them at the time of his sightings. He considers himself to have good vision (with glasses on), is not colorblind, has good hearing and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he sighted the objects nor were the other witnesses. Mr. Fred Batcha was the main witness who reported the incident Maria and Jim wish to remain anonymous. The nearest airports to the area are the Youngstown Airport, 1453 Kingsville Road, Vienna, Ohio, 44473 and the Youngstown Airforce Reserve Base, 3976 King Graves Road, #10, Vienna, Ohio, 44473. The Airport is 24.81 miles Southwest of the area of sighting and the Airbase is 30.62 miles Southwest of the sighting area. The last sighting reported above was approximately on the date of 07/26/14 in which four of the objects were observed by the witnesses.
