late night after June 23, 1996 or during the 1st week of July 1996 was heading to bed. As I passed through my kitchen area I glanced towards my back yard and saw up in the sky an orange rotating object, going around like a diorama or merry-go-round. It was maybe at an angle of 70-80 degrees above the horizon. I could see that there appeared sectional squares/rectangles that were discernable as it rotated. It was going from left to right across the sky. This would be considered going eastbound going towards Monticello, NY. I yelled to my daughter to come and see what I was seeing. She looked, but didn't seem as excited as I was. She did acknowledge that she saw what I was seeing, but didn't really comment. The object quickly flew out of site. I know what I was seeing wasn't a plane.I has previously been stationed at a Naval Air Station in TX. and live in Hawaii where I had an unobstructed view of various types of military and commerical planes taking off and landing from Honolulu Airport and the adjacent Hickham AFB runways. I observed these planes day and night with military feild binoculars. The light that night were no way those of a helicopter, jet, commerical or military or props.
